ORTIZ NAMED 2022 RECIPIENT OF BRENT TOMS LEGACY AWARD
June 14, 2022
The Kutcher Foundation is proud to announce that Johnny Ortiz, a Senior at Evangelic Christian School in Fort Myers, Florida, has been named the second-ever recipient of The Brent Toms Baseball Legacy Award.
He joins his former teammate, Dylan Wolff, as the only other recipient of the award since its inception in 2021.
“It is an honor to take this award”, says Ortiz. “It will help me further my education in the future”.
Following graduation, Ortiz will attend Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida.
About the Award: Brent Toms was an avid baseball fan and a beloved Coach for the Sentinels baseball team at Evangelical Christian School in Fort Myers, Florida. Each year, a graduating senior on the ECS baseball team will be given The Brent Toms Baseball Legacy Award. The winner will be someone who exhibits some of Brent’s values such as working hard and being committed to the game of baseball. It is not necessarily going to be the best player on the team; it will be the player who works to make their teammates better. The Kutcher Foundation will provide a $1,000 scholarship to the Senior selected.
